The Surgery (LIVE)

George JM

8 times. That’s the number of shoulder dislocations George has experienced in their lifetime. In 2021, George amusingly decided to commemorate their second and hopefully final shoulder surgery by live-broadcasting the video feed from their surgical team’s arthroscopic camera. Hosted offsite from a makeshift TV studio, the livestream also invited viewers to interact with this very up-close and personal spectacle in real-time.

The Surgery (LIVE) is supported by Philadelphia-based art collectives AUTOMAT and Lino Kino.

Directed by George JM
Hosted by Matthew Ober
