Jennifer Caputo
A bottle beneath my bathroom sink
I can find in the dark
twist off the top
shake out 2 pills
and swallow
The unrelenting nausea
begging for aid
but that packaging isn’t conducive to opening in the dark
Laying in the blackened room
cold compress over my forehead and eyes
praying for sleep
anything to release the tension gripping the back of my skull
When it comes
the sleep is restless
painted with vivid dreams
But when my eyes open
Relief
