Christine Slobogin, Postdoctoral Fellow
Christine Slobogin is an art historian of medicine, currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in the History of Medicine and the Center for Medical Humanities & Social Medicine at Johns Hopkins University. She received her PhD from Birkbeck, University of London in 2021. Since then, her research has been funded by the Wellcome Trust ISSF, Yale University’s Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art, the Northern Network for Medical Humanities Research, and The John Rylands Research Institute at the University of Manchester. Her current book project is on the visual culture of Second World War plastic surgery in Britain, and she also works on anonymity and humor within medical imagery. She is a co-host of two podcasts: one for the CMHSM, “For the Medical Record,” and “Drawing Blood,” a podcast about art, science, medicine, and the macabre.
