This one-page comic from Hatiye Garip‘s Corona Diary captures a summer of lockdown during the Covid-19 pandemic. Resting and nurturing her drawing practice were integral ways that she navigated this challenging period.

Hatiye Garip is a disabled illustrator, comic artist, and designer from Istanbul, Turkey, and is based in Cologne, Germany. She likes to draw birds, flowers, and ordinary moments. She is interested in accessible illustration, comics, graphic medicine and experiments with onomatopoeia and field recordings. She manages the Accessible Lines project, which brings together illustrators from the United Kingdom and Turkey to make their illustrations accessible. As a DAAD doctoral fellow, she is carrying out her research on accessible comics.
