Tendon is a literary magazine publishing work at the intersection of arts and the health humanities. Founded and edited by a collective of writers, scholars, and artists, Tendon seeks poetry, prose, visual art, and critical perspectives that pulse with vulnerability, precision, and insight. We are especially interested in work shaped by illness, disability, intimacy, care, kinship, medical worlds, and social rupture.

Our themed issues are published online and in print, with past titles including “Rest” and “Reflections on Trauma.”

Tendon is based in Baltimore and supported by the Johns Hopkins Center for Medical Humanities & Social Medicine. In partnership with Johns Hopkins, Tendon hosts occasional live events, readings, and collaborations across disciplines.
