Graduate Fellow

Talia Katz is a PhD student in the Department of Anthropology at Johns Hopkins University. Her research tracks the development and practice of psychodrama and drama therapy in Israel, considering how experiences of violence influence the production of psychiatric knowledge. More broadly, she is interested in how the concept of trauma is reconfigured in relation to the proliferation and institutionalization of creative arts therapies. Prior to coming to Hopkins, she conducted ethnographic research on the intersections of sexual violence, nationalism, and mental health care in East Africa through a Parker Huang Travel Fellowship from Yale University. She holds a BA in anthropology magna cum laude from Yale University.
