Tendon is seeking new editorial staff for the 2025–2026 academic year! All roles are volunteer and remote-compatible, though we’d love to welcome one or more team members based in Baltimore. Time commitments range from 1–5 hours per week, with more needed during production periods.

Fiction Editor
Editors are responsible for reading submissions, shaping each issue’s prose offerings, and collaborating on editorial strategy. We’re looking for thoughtful, collaborative readers of fiction with a strong editorial eye and some experience editing literary prose. This is a hands-on role for someone excited to help shape the future of Tendon’s fiction section.
Readers
Readers support review of submissions in specific genres. This is a great role for curious, engaged readers looking to get involved in the editorial process. For 2025–2026, we’re seeking new readers in poetry, fiction, and visual arts.
Internships
Our internships are designed for students (undergraduate or graduate) looking to gain experience in an editorial setting. Internships run for the 2025–2026 academic year. All work is remote-compatible.
Design Intern
Works with the design team to support the visual side of Tendon, including web and print layout, typography, and design. Experience with tools like InDesign, Illustrator, or Figma is great, but we also welcome folks who are still learning.
Editorial Intern
Works with the managing editor to assist with proofreading, copyediting, and general editorial support. This is an opportunity for a detail-oriented student looking to gain hands-on experience with the editorial process.
Event Planning Intern or Coordinator
A Baltimore-based intern who will support preparation for the Association of Writers & Writing Programs (AWP) Conference, which will come to Baltimore in March 2026, and also helps coordinate readings and a launch party for the next issue. This person need not be a student, if a postgraduate would like to volunteer for the role.
