Iro Filippaki (pronounced Eero) is the Center’s inaugural postdoctoral researcher. Her role includes organizing Center events; working with the Director and faculty to develop new programs; liaising with faculty and trainees across multiple campuses of Johns Hopkins University; and developing online content for the Center’s online and social media presence, as well as conducting her own research on war and trauma studies and narrative medicine. In particular, Iro writes on the narrative representations of trauma and affect in a variety of texts and contexts: war narratives and video games; cancer memoirs, horror films, and Greek literature and culture. Iro is currently co-editing a special issue of the Journal of Trauma and Dissociation with the theme of Trauma, Narratives, and Institutions.
