Zackary Berger

I am an Associate Professor of General Internal Medicine and Core Faculty at the Berman Institute of Bioethics. As an internist, clinical epidemiologist, and bioethicist, my work centers on shared decision making and patient centered care: how these oft-cited concepts are discussed, negotiated, defined, regulated and implemented in theory and practice, including the political and social experience of disadvantaged groups.

My approach is clinical, educational, conceptual and empirical, including the development of novel coursework (Ethics of Decision Making in Clinical Context) as well as books for the academy and lay public. In parallel, I explore other spheres in which these ideas can be brought to bear, including Jewish bioethics and political advocacy.
